Archaeology Field School Description
Betty's Hope, which is being considered by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, is located on the Caribbean island of Antigua. Betty's Hope is a former British sugar plantation that operated from 1651 until its sale by the Codrington family in 1944; the plantation operated continuously for almost 300 years, pre- and post-emancipation. Betty's Hope is a research project that includes in-depth field school training. On the project, participants learn stratigraphical excavation techniques, mapping and surveying, drawing features and profiles, and the analysis and processing of archaeologically recovered materials. The field school also includes delicious meals, evening lectures on Antigua's history and pre-history, weekend field trips, and trips to the island's lovely beaches. Working on the island will allow students to experience contemporary Caribbean culture. We are an RPA accredited field school.
The deadline has been extended to May 3!
