Archaeology Field School Description

Southeast Missouri State University's archaeological investigations at the Hunze-Evans (also known as South Cape) began in the 1970s under Duncan Wilkie. After a hiatus, the program was revived by Tamira Brennan in 2007. Three years of subsequent field and analysis by Brennan, her students, and her colleagues have lead to the development of intriguing questions regarding intra community social relations at the site, as well as regarding how the residents of Hunze-Evans interacted with other prehistoric residents of the broader region. As part of our field school team, you will have the opportunity not only to learn basic archaeological field and lab techniques, but also to actively contribute to the development of a long term research agenda. Motivated field school participants will be provided opportunities to carry out specific research projects if they so desire.
