Archaeology Field School Description

Overview
This field school provides a unique opportunity for students to undertake 'community' archaeology in Australia. Students will have the chance to learn field-based archaeological skills, while at the same time developing other practical and personal skills necessary to conduct archaeological research with Aboriginal communities. The field school may involve some seminars, and informal interactions with Barunga and Wugullar community members.

Location
In 2015 the Ethnoarchaeology Field School will be held at Barunga, in the Northern Territory. Barunga is located approximately 80km southeast of Katherine. It hosts an annual Sports and Culture Festival and is home to people from a range of different language groups. The Barunga-Wugularr area belongs to the Bugula clan lands of the Jawoyn people.
