Field School opportunities with DigVentures

2016 is an exciting year for DigVentures, we will be hosting various fieldwork projects in the UK as well as in Europe. Projects we have confirmed so far are:

Lindisfarne Island, Northumberland – Search for Holy Island’s Anglo-Saxon monastery raided by Vikings
Yorkshire Dales – Uncover Ice Age animals and Romano-British cave-cults in Yorkshire
Costra dos Castros, Galicia, Spain – Help dig an Iron Age hillfort and explore Spain’s Celtic connection
Lancashire – Be part of the first scientific excavation of a Bronze Age barrow in the northwest of England in over 50 years
Suffolk – Medieval archaeology in the heart of one of Britain’s most famous reserves

Archaeology Field School Tuition

Registered with the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA). We are the only community-focused organisation operating under the prestigious ‘Registered Organisation’ scheme and the only accredited CIfA field school in the UK. We have numerous sites running this year in the UK and in Europe – please see our projects pages for further information on fieldwork opportunities for 2016.

We teach the full range of excavation and pre/post excavation skills and techniques on site. Alongside more traditional archaeological practises we have developed and embedded digital technology into our projects to increase public participation. Teaching is delivered by professional archaeologists, with further opportunities to attend masterclasses from leading experts. We are also able to offer university and NVQ credits for fieldwork as well as supporting the Skills Passport on site.
